Montrieux le Hameau was first built as the domain of Carthusian monks in the 12th century (those special ones that make Chartreuse), before becoming a hotel/restaurant popular with the arts crowd in the 19th. Today it is run by a nonprofit cooperative focused on permaculture, art/artisanal residencies, and social projects - the venue employs people coming out of precarious situations. Our wedding dinner will be in part supplied by produce grown on the property.
